Private hospital doctor dies by suicide; political link alleged

Lokesh seeks action against land mafia

Kakinada: Private hospital doctor Nunna Kiran Chowdary (33) died suicide by consuming pesticide on Saturday evening. The death occurred on Sunday.
The Two Town police told Deccan Chronicle that the deceased’s mother Sesharatnam lodged a complaint. The mother alleged that there was political involvement in her son’s death.

She said Kiran studied MBBS in Russia. After the demise of her husband, the son was looking after the properties. The family had some liabilities too.

Sesharatnam said the son told her on Saturday that he was distressed as he was unable to manage the liabilities/disputes in the lands and properties, following involvement of some political leaders in these. Later, she noticed that her son vomited. He was soon hospitalized but lost his life.

The mother had alleged in some news channel interviews that YSRC leader Pedababu of Achampet and Kurasala Kalyana Krishna, brother of former minister Kannababu, had promised her son help to end the property disputes and took away the original documents.

“Pedababu did not give back the documents and cheated us. Unable to bear this, my son committed suicide,” the mother stated.

Circle inspector Naick told DC that when some of the mother’s comments to the media were mentioned to her during the inquest, she said she did not remember what she spoke. “Her mind was upset due to her son’s death,” police said.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam general secretary Nara Lokesh condoled the death of Krian Chowdary and condemned the political role in it. “Uunable to bear the harassment and insults, Kiran Chowdary ended his life,” Lokesh said.

“Kalyan Krishna purchased five acres of land and grabbed the original documents from doctor Kiran without paying any money. The government should take action against those who caused the death of Kiran,” he said.

Lokesh called upon people facing such problems in the state to come under one umbrella, “fight against the land mafia, end land grabbing activities and teach a lesson to such YSRC leaders.”
