Ragging incident at Basar IIIT: Five students suspended

Barred from taking semester exam

Adilabad: Basar IIIT authorities, led by director Satish Kumar, on Friday issued orders suspending five second-year students (PUC-II), accused of ragging junior students, from attending classes for 15 days. They have been barred from writing the first semester papers. The decision was taken based on the report submitted by the disciplinary and anti-ragging committee, which probed the clash between two groups and submitted its report on Friday.

The authorities also made it clear that two staff members were violating duty norms. A one-man committee was constituted to look into the issue and submit a report, based on which action would be taken.

The authorities made it clear that the issue was in no way connected to misbehaving with a girl student as reported in a section of the media. The authorities strongly condemned such news.

It is learnt that a junior assistant and outsourcing attender indulged in misappropriation of funds.
