Hyderabad: Land grabbers beat revenue officals

Efforts are on to nab the accused and the investigation is going, police said.

Hyderabad: Revenue department officials were chased and beaten by land grabbers for removing the encroachments at a government land at Jawaharnagar on Sunday.

Village Revenue Officer S. Venkatesh received information about an encroachment of government land (Sy no 432) at Jawaharnagar village and got to know that illegal construction was being done there. He along with his staff rushed to the spot by noon.

When the officials were trying to remove the illegal constructions, two persons identified as Ramesh Chary and Dayakar Chary obstructed the officials and also abused them using filthy language. As the officials tried to escape, a group of people joined Ramesh and Dayakar and chased the officials and beaten them.

Jawaharnagar sub-inspector S. Saidulu said, “The VRO and other revenue department staff were attacked by six persons, who chased them and beat them, causing injuries to the VRO and others.

“A case has been registered against the accused persons — Ramesh, Dayakar, Vempati Bhaskar, Gandi Narsaiah and Nadimeti Narsaiah, for wrongfully restraining government officials and obstructing them while discharging lawful duties and causing hurt,” he said.

Efforts are on to nab the accused and the investigation is going, he said.
