Hyderabad: 23-year-old man held for vehicle fraud

He is a habitual offender and is involved in as many as three cheating cases.

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old man was arrested by the North Zone police for cheating victims under the pretext of providing car insurance and RC books with forged documents. The accused was identified as Erla Srinivas, a car driver from Suryapet.

He is a habitual offender and is involved in as many as three cheating cases under the limits of Vanasthalipuram, Shadnagar and Habeeb Nagar areas, said the police.

“In May, he along with his associates, forged the RC documents of a bike and sold the same to a victim, Mohd. Abdul Hai Sidiqui, for Rs 97,000. Later, the victim verified the chassis number, engine number and found variations, which made him realise that he was cheated,” said the North Zone police.

Again in June, Srinivas approached one Shaik Fakeer Pasha and agreed to purchase his car and paid him Rs 10,000 as advance and took the vehicle’s RC documents and got it registered on his wife’s name, Manjula. “He then took an auto finance amount of Rs 5.2 lakh from Sriram Auto Finance which was credited in his wife’s bank account. When Pasha tried to reach him, he was found absconding,” siad the North Zone officials. Srinivas was sent to judicial remand.
