Bengaluru: ACP accused of illegally detaining businessman
BENGALURU: Barely a fortnight after the infamous incident of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) attacking a hotelier came to light, another ACP has now been accused of 'illegal detention; and 'torture' of a businessman, hailing from Kerala. Additional Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Seemanth Kumar Singh has directed the DCP (East) Ajay Hillor to investigate the allegations levelled against ACP Mohammed Sajjad Khan of Halasuru, by Nazer C., a 52-year-old businessman from Kannur district.
Singh has asked the DCP to submit the report in three days. Nazer had approached the DCP and filed a complaint alleging that the ACP had illegally detained and tortured him to recover Rs 15 lakh. Nazer stated in his complaint that on Wednesday around 10.30 pm, while he is asleep at his house in Chockli in Kannur district, the ACP's squad, along with the local police, forcefully took him away and accused him of cheating a Bengaluru-based businessman Nasir K. He was also told that a complaint of cheating had been filed against him in Jeevan Bima Nagar police station and brought him to Bengaluru.
Nazer also alleged that ACP squad brought him to the J.B. Nagar police station on Thursday and tortured him till Friday night before releasing him. Nazer said the ACP threatened to imprison him if he did not pay up, he alleged in the complaint. Earlier Nasir had filed a complaint accusing Nazer of cheating him of Rs 15 lakh, when he worked as a supervisor in his grocery shop 15 years ago. The victim said that since 2014 he has been working in Dubai and recently returned to India to finalise his daughter's wedding. He alleged that his daughter's engagement got cancelled due to his detention. ACP Khan was not available for comments.
