Telangana: Speeding truck mows down traffic constable
Hyderabad: A traffic constable on duty was killed in an accident in Sangareddy district on Thursday night. Shaikh Qadir was on duty at the main junction when a speeding truck ran over him. Police said Shaikh Qadir, 45, a resident of Sangareddy town, was working as a constable at the Sangareddy Traffic Police station. On Wednesday he was deputed on traffic duty to Sangareddy X roads.
A container truck which was travelling on the Mumbai-Hyderabad NH was passing through Sangareddy X roads. “The truck was speeding. The driver lost control and ran over Qadir. Qadir came under the front left tyre of the vehicle,” Sangareddy Rural SI S. Shivalingam said. Qadir died on the spot. The truck driver fled leaving behind the vehicle. Police registered a case and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem. A hunt is on to nab the truck driver.
