Telangana: 8 youths steal 40 bikes, held
Hyderabad: Eight youths, including four students, who allegedly stole bikes parked in busy areas were arrested by the Rachakonda police on Friday. The gang stole 40 bikes and sold them on the outskirts. The suspects are B. Naveen, 19, R. Uday, 19, K. Mahesh, 19, Ch Rajashekar, 27, and four students aged 17. Addressing a press meet Rachakonda joint police commissioner T.V. Shashidhar Reddy said the gang usually stole bikes parked in busy areas on the main roads in areas like Uppal. Four of the culprits are working in the private sector and four others are students. While Naveen, the leader of the gang, and six others stole bikes by breaking their locks, Rajashekar stole bikes by opening the lock with a fake master key.
“Rajashekar was stealing bikes since a year. He stole 28 bikes and they were all sold in the surroundings of Bhoodan Pocham-pally in Yadadri district for prices ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000. He told his buyers that he was a finance and insurance agent and that the bikes were recovered from customers who failed to pay instalments,” Mr Shashidhar Reddy said.
The other members of the gang sold the stolen bikes in Ibrahimpatnam, Mothkur, Yadadri, LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Tarnaka and other areas. After receiving credible information, Uppal police nabbed the eight-member gang and recovered 40 bikes. Of the bikes 28 were stolen from Medipally and 12 from Uppal police station area. The arrested people were remanded to custody. The minor boys were taken to the juvenile home.
