OOTY: The district Mahila court here sentenced a man to 38 years imprisonment in a case related to sexually abusing a girl child in Nilgiris district.
It is alleged that one Sethu Raghupathy(38), a carpenter, residing in Elk Hill area here sexually abused a 13-year-old girl, living nearby his house in 2017. He is said to have threatened the child andsexually abused her at his will.
When the child brought it to the knowledge of her mother after sometime, a complaint was lodged with the all women police stationhere in July 2017. The police who arrested Sethu Raghupathy filed a case in the Mahila court here.
The court which pronounced its order in this case on Friday evening, sentenced Sethu Raghupathy to 38 years imprisonment, under five sections. The court also passed orders to the state government to provide Rs 5 lakh to the affec-
ted girl child as solatium.
