Prisoner escapes police custody
Hyderabad: In another incident of a prisoner escaping from police custody in Kushaiguda, a 24-year-old man who was arrested for burglaries, jumped out of a moving bus on Thursday. Two police personnel from Amberpet City Armed Reserve (CAR) wing have been booked for negligence, and departmental action has been initiated against two more personnel from Rachakonda.
Mittapally Laxman, 24, a native of Bhainsa in Nirmal district was living in Sitaphalmandi in Secunderabad. He was arrested by the Mahbubnagar police for committing property offences and was remanded to judicial custody and was lodged at Cherlapally central prison.
On Thursday, Laxman was being taken to Mahbubnagar to produce him in the court in a bus used to transport the prisoners. Laxman reportedly jumped out of the moving bus at Chakripuram.
Before the personnel could react, Laxman started running and went absconding. Kushaiguda ACP K. Shiva Kumar said, “A case has been registered against the CAR head constable and a police constable for being negligent while transporting the prisoner. Departmental action will also be initiated against the two escort police personnel. A team has been formed to search for Laxman.”
In a similar incident at LB Nagar in 2015, a chain snatcher identified as Aqeeluddin was arrested by the Kushaiguda police and he escaped from the police while they had stopped for lunch while transporting him. However, he was later arrested by the LB Nagar police.
