3 of a gang involved in robberies held
Hyderabad: Three members of a gang involved in a series of robberies in Hyderabad has been arrested by the Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths.
The police recovered a car, Rs 15,000 cash and eight smart phones from the accused.Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that the gang members have committed eight robberies so far.
V. Santosh Kumar, 20, N. Shiva, 19, and M. Sai Kumar, 19, have been apprehended by the SOT (Malkajgiri zone) on Thursday after receiving a tip-off, while another member is absconding.
“The gang of four has been regularly involved in property offences and then escape to faraway places to spend the money lavishly,” the commissioner said.
“On October 15, at around 12.10 am, they threatened a cab driver, confined him in the back seat and snatched his mobile phone. He was later dropped off at Tank Bund and they escaped in the car. While going towards Choutuppal, they again robbed two persons near Thoopranpet village and took Rs 11,000 cash,” the commissioner added.
