Hyderabad: Two Lose Rs 1.08 Cr in Seperate Cyber Fraud Cases

Hyderabad: In two different cyber crime cases reported with the Cyberabad police, two individuals were duped of over Rs 59 lakh and Rs 49 lakh respectively. In one case, the fraudsters duped a product manager of a private firm under the pretext of HP LPG dealership and in another case, a part time job offer of doing online tasks like liking videos on social media platforms.

In the first case, an engineering graduate from Manikonda working for a private firm got a message on whatsapp with a part time job offer which was to increase the sender's product visibility on ecommerce platforms. After completing the initial tasks, she was directed to a telegram group where tasks were given at regular intervals. Initially she received money for completing tasks, she was later told that she entered next levels and she was asked to pay money for going to the next levels and completing tasks.

Saying that she has earned Rs 1.20 Cr, the fraudsters went on collecting money from her, amounting to a total of over Rs 59 lakh in multiple transactions. When they demanded Rs 40 lakh more, she grew suspicious and approached the police.

In the second case, the complainant is a resident of Kukatpally. His mother searched online for an HP LPG dealership and found a link. She wrote to the mail id given in the link with her details, expressing her interest in the dealership. She was informed that they got a dealership in Miryalaguda, Nalgonda district and asked them to pay deposit and towards other charges, amounting to Rs 49.88 lakh. They also got agreement documents and also payment receipts for the payment made and a site visit was also finalised. However, as they kept postponing the visit, the complainant grew suspicious and approached the police.
