Polytechnic student pushed from hostel window, dies

In a fit of rage, Shiva Sai pushed him away resulting in his fall through the window

WARANGAL: An 18-year-old student, Nakirtha Sanjay, fell to his death on Friday night from the hostel building of Balaji Institute of Technology and Sciences on the outskirts of Narsampet in Warangal district. According to police, the incident took place due to a fight in his hostel room.

Sanjay, who hails from Vangapalli of Kamalapur mandal in Hanamkonda district was in polytechnic second year. He joined his three roommates only two days back. One of them Gunda Shiva Sai, broke a window pane in the room due to which the hostel warden called their parents and asked them to pay the damages.

On Friday night, the boys brought dinner from the mess to their room on the second floor. The issue of the broken window once again came up for discussion and Shiva Sai and another student Hari Raj started fighting over it. Sanjay went to stop the fight and was standing on the bed right beside the broken window. In a fit of rage, Shiva Sai pushed him away resulting in his fall through the window.

Sanjay was shifted to a private hospital in Narsampet and then to another in Hanamkonda. However, he succumbed to his injuries at 11:10pm. Shiva Sai and Hari Raj fled from the hostel. However, Hari Raj returned on Saturday and gave his statement to the police.

Meanwhile, relatives of Sanjay alleged that they lost the boy because of the negligence of the college management. Along with student organisations, a rasta roko was held in front of the college.

Police registered a case and are on the lookout for Shiva Sai.
