Hyderabad: Death threats to man over love marriage

Following their discreet wedding and leaving the city, a missing case was booked by the girl's family.

Hyderabad: A man who married a Muslim girl without her parents’ consent earlier this year alleged that she had now been kidnapped by her own brother and also that he had been getting death threats for marrying her without the family’s consent. Kacheguda Police took up the case and assured him that justice would be done and started an investigation.

Speaking to DC, Raju claimed that he had married Nasdin on February 18, earlier this year at Arya Samaj and the couple had shifted to Pune from Hyderabad. “Her brother followed us to Pune and recently when we came to Hyderabad, he confronted me while I was with my friends and told me that my wife’s father was unwell and that he wished to see her. He took my wife, who is pregnant, with him to her place and refused to send her back and also threatened that he would get the baby aborted,” he said, adding that he was also given death threats by the girl’s family.

The Kacheguda inspector, K. Satyanarayana said that following their discreet wedding and leaving the city, a missing case was booked by the girl’s family at Lalaguda Police station which is still an open case. “We had a word with the Lalaguda police who took a statement from the girl after her brother took her away from Raju and stopped her from meeting him again. Since both the parties are major, there is nothing illegal in this matter and we will make sure that justice is served to Raju,” assured the official.
