Hyderabad: Registering in an escort service providing club online may be easy, but exercise care and caution as three such online clubs have been nabbed the cybercrime cell for falsely luring customers with pictures of beautiful women.
Together these clubs have gypped over Rs 200 cr. from an over zealous audience by blatant cheating. The Cyberabad cyber crime police have arrested two persons including a woman, who were all part of the gang that looted money from the public.
Rahul (name changed), a city resident who Googled for female escort services came across a website ‘www.getyourlady.com’.
There were several pictures of women put up on the web pages, portraying them as those who are interested in giving escort services. Tempted by that, he entered his mobile number and other details in the website to enrol as a member. Five days later, he received a call from a woman claiming to be Riya from the website.
Riya asked Rahul to pay Rs 1,080 towards membership fee and then Rs 15,600 for Club License, Rs 27,600 for the registration fee, Rs 37,700 for license fee, Rs 5 lakh towards service charges, Rs 87,634 towards GST, Rs 4.5 lakh for background verification and Rs 4 lakh towards final payment charges. He paid a total of Rs 15.19 lakh, to get a female escort service for two months.
Realising the fraud after two months, the victim lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police.
The police tracked the IP address of the website and the accounts in which the money was deposited and rushed to Siliguri in West Bengal, from where the fraud was being executed and nabbed two persons.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Mr. V C Sajjanar said the fraud was the brainchild of one Debashish Mukherjee of Howrah. He created three websites www.worlddating.com, www.getourlady.com, and www.mylove18.in. He posted the pictures of unidentified women including some celebrities on the websites as women who were offering escort services.
