Bengaluru: Two fake TV journalists held

The duo demanded Rs 50,000 from the shop owners to avoid telecast of the video.

Bengaluru: Two people were arrested for trying to extort money from a textile merchant by claiming they were ‘TV reporters’ and have some incriminating footage regarding his shop.

The accused, V.K. Mahadev (31), a resident of Hosakerehalli and N. Ashoka Kumar (33), a resident of D Group Nagarabhavi, went to Stylo garments on K.R. Road and befriended its owner.

A day later they visited the shop again and video-graphed the outlet and then blackmailed the shop owner by claiming they were journalists from a Kannada news channel and will telecast that he was selling ‘fake branded' clothes.

The duo demanded Rs 50,000 from the shop owners to avoid telecast of the video. The shop owner lodged a complaint with the Banshankari police who arrested the fake reporters.
