Chennai: Three member gang attack rowdy out on bail, murdered

The deceased, Rajesh, had two murder cases against him and was out on bail only a fortnight ago.

Chennai: A 27-year-old rowdy who was attacked by a trio five days ago near Pozhichalur succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Sunday. The deceased, Rajesh, had two murder cases against him and was out on bail only a fortnight ago, police said.

Rajesh was staying with his friend, Anandan, a truck driver. On the night of September 20, Rajesh and Anandan were returning home from a TASMAC outlet when the duo was attacked over an argument. Police investigations revealed that the duo had picked up an argument with another group and attempted to waylay them, which led to the attack.

Rajesh tried to attack the other group, but one of them picked up an iron rod and attacked Rajesh and fled the scene. Rajesh who was admitted to the Chromepet Government Hospital succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night. Sankar Nagar police registered a case of murder and have arrested two persons - Naresh and Satish - in connection with the murder and a hunt is on for Kannan, an auto driver.
