Hyderabad: Three constables attack suspect man
Hyderabad: Three constables of OU police station allegedly attacked a man whom they went to arrest in Malkajgiri. The suspect, Mahesh Singh, was injured on his forehead. In the scuffle two constables were also injured.
Police registered two cases. One against cops Jagdeesh, Rakesh and Hateeja and the other against Mahesh and his wife. Mahesh is an accused in six cases in Malkajgiri police station and two at the OU police station.
K. Mahesh Singh, a resident of Uppariguda, is an accused in a matka case. On Sunday a constable came to Mahesh’s house to take him to the police station for questioning. Mahesh was sleeping and when the constable tried to call him his wife Poonam objected. But Mahesh woke up and got ready to go with them.
Meanwhile, two other constables also came to Mahesh’s house. Fearing that they would beat him, Mahesh raised an alarm. People gathered and had an argument with the cops. In the scuffle Mahesh suffered an injury on his forehead and cops misbehaved with his wife Poonam. “They started using force. When we and our neighbours resisted they attacked Mahesh and abused me,” Poonam said.
In the scuffle, two cops, Jagdeesh and Rakesh, suffered injuries on their fingers. Constable Hateeja escaped without injury. Mahesh was admitted to a hospital and is out of danger.
Police booked the cops for assault on woman (Section 354), inflicting injury (324) and intimidation (506). Mahesh and his wife were booked for injuring a public servant.
