Hyderabad: Minor child worker dies in hospital

Mahender's parents has started from Patna and a case will be booked after they reach Hyderabad and file a complaint.

Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy who was working at a bangle manufacturing unit in Bhavaninagar died in suspicious circumstances on Saturday. The boy, Mahender, belonged to Bihar and was working for one Siddique since some months.

Mahender, who hailed from Patna district, was working at a bangle unit run by one Ghulam Siddique in Ahmednagar. Bhavaninagar inspector Srinivas Rao said that Mahender was living with Siddique’s wife, three children and another kid.

A few days ago, when Mahender fell ill he was taken to a private hospital and treated. Later, he was shifted to the Apollo Hospital at DRDL where he died on Saturday evening. “Doctors said the boy had a low platelet count and that led to his death. The body was sent for autopsy and based on the report we will take action,” he said.

The Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded strict action against all commercial establishments and factories employing minor children in hazardous occupations.
