Kerala: Wife, friend found guilty of killing man
Malappuram: The Malappuram district and sessions court in Manjeri on Thursday found a woman and her friend guilty of murdering her husband Vinod Kumar, a gas agency owner in Valancheri, last year. The court is likely to pronounce the sentence on first accused Jaseentha George aka Jyothi and her aide and second Muhammed Yusaf, convicted with charges of murder, conspiracy and destruction of evidence, on Friday.
Vinod Kumar who hailed from Ernakulam was running a gas agency and petrol pump in Valancheri. He was found murdered in asleep at his house in Vendalloor in Valancheri on October 9, 2015 and the police had charged his wife Jyothi and her long-time friend Yusaf who hails from Ernakulam with jointly carrying out the crime.
There were 32 wounds on Vinod’s body and Jyothi had allegedly asked Yusaf to cut her throat so that the entire episode could be portrayed as a robbery-cum-murder. The police, however, found that Jyothi had planned the murder. Prima facie evidence against her claims and inconsistencies in her statements helped the police unravel the murder case.
