Rail users committee meets in Salem

Elangkavi, zonal rail user consultative committee attended the meeting along with DRUCC.

SALEM: The 21st Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) Meeting of Salem Division was held on Friday at Salem. Mr. U. Subba Rao, divisional railway manager (DRM), Salem division, along with other divisional branch officers attended the meeting. Earlier, Mr. E. Harikrishnan , senior divisional commercial manager and secretary/ DRUCC, welcomed the members.

Mr. Rao gave a detailed power Point presentation about the various developments done in Salem division and also detailed the DRUCC members about the safety, security, punctuality & cleanliness of trains and stations as well as the progress of ongoing/sanctioned works of passenger amenities of Salem division.

Discussions were held with DRUCC members about various improvements in Salem division like Women's Safety, facilities in waiting halls, provision of Catering/Jan Aahar stalls, lift & escalators, provision of parking facilities, FOBs, CCTV facilities, coach Indication boards, stoppage of trains, toilet facilities, medical stalls at stations, improvements for Divyangjan passengers, etc.

Meanwhile, the veteran railway men union leader Mr Kannaiah led a massive demonstration on behalf of SRMU before the Salem divisional office here on Thursday, protesting against the Centre's move to privatize the railway assets and threatened to intensify their agitation if it did not withdraw its plan to hand over the Indian Railways on a platter to the private sector.
