DVAC sleuths raid DSP’s house in Kovai

The raid continued till evening 4 pm, according to a source the official had seized few files in connection with the corruption charge.

COIMBATORE: In an unfortunate development, sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided the house of a DSP here on Thursday in connection with a bribe complaint lodged by an alleged 'Ganja' dealer.

According to source, Mr. Kumar holds the position of narcotics DSP for districts including Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri in West Zone.

Recently an alleged 'Ganja' dealer Rani from Thiruchencode lodged a complaint at the office of Salem additional SP for DVAC, alleging charges that DSP Kumar, his relative Sibi Chakaravarthi, working as treasury superintend, and police inspector Santha are forcing the ‘Ganja’ dealers in West zone to get back to business again. The trio had also demanded bribe for starting the ‘Ganja’ business again.

Acting on the complaint a team led by DVAC additional SP Chandramouli came to the house of Kumar at Ganapathi in Coimbatore on Thursday morning around 7.30 am, when Kumar had left to Hyderabad for an official training.

The raid continued till evening 4 pm, according to a source the official had seized few files in connection with the corruption charge.

Further investigations are on, the sources said, adding, its a freak case.
