Bengaluru: Speeding tempo hits bike, one dead
Bengaluru: Two people, including a 30-year-old woman, died in separate accidents while riding two-wheelers in K.R. Puram and K.S. Layout traffic police station limits since Tuesday night.
In the first incident, Saraswati, a resident of Kalakere and a home maker, died while riding pillion with her father. A speeding tempo hit their bike from the rear on Kalakere Main Road in K.R. Puram traffic police station limits, at around 7.30 pm.
Police said the temp driver, identified as Mukesh Kumar (22), was arrested by the K.R. Puram traffic police.
Police said Saraswati’s father Rama Subba Reddy had come to pick her up at her house in Kalakere. While they were going in the bike, they got hit by a tempo.
Saraswati fell on the road and died instantly, after sustaining critical head injuries, while her father escaped with minor injuries.
A police officer said the tempo driver didn’t flee and was arrested under section 304 A and the tempo was seized.
In another accident, a 28-year-old man died after a speeding mini lorry hit his bike in K.S. Layout traffic police station limits on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 7.45 p.m. on Nice Road junction.
The police said the deceased has been identified as Nagraj, a resident of Maruthinagar and an employee of a private firm. The accident happened when he was going home.
A speeding truck hit the bike from rear. Nagraj fell on the road and sustained head injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries early Wednesday.
