Puttaparthi civic chief ends life
ANANTAPUR: Puttaparthi municipal commissioner K. Manikumar committed suicide by heading into a speeding train near Kadapa Railway station in YSR district during early hours of Saturday.
Manikumar had been transferred to Puttaparthi two months ago and his family had remained in YSR district. He had been superintendent of Kadapa Municipal Corporation earlier. He had also served as Kamalapuram municipal commissioner.
Locals alerted railway police about an unidentified dead body on the track. They traced the deceased person through his ID card as Puttaparthi municipal commissioner and alerted family members.
Railway police shifted the body to RIMS for post-mortem and later handed it over to family members for last rites.
Police suspect Manikumar took the extreme step due to personnel problems, as he had no issues at Puttaparthi municipality that he joined two months ago. Puttaparthi municipal staff expressed shock over the suicide by their commissioner.
