Minister’s PA booked for demanding bribe, fired from job
Warangal: Bonala Mallikarjun, who served as a personal assistant to backward classes minister Gangula Kamalakar, was booked for seeking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a water plant owner to help him evade a police case.
The move came after an audio clip of an interaction between Mallikarjun and the water plant owner, M. Tirupati, went viral on social media. A case was filed at the Three Town police station.
Tirupati owns a water plant at Subash Nagar, and in a recent check, the water produced by his plant did not meet standards. He was apprehensive about being booked in a case and getting bail, due to which he approached Mallikarjun.
In the interaction, Mallikarjun can be heard assuring Tirupati that a circle inspector and an ACP were close friends and that a case would not be filed. He also told Tirupati that following an interaction with the ACP, a case would not be registered on payment of `1 lakh, the police said.
ACP Tula Srinivas Rao said that Tirupati filed a complaint with him, following which Mallikarjun was booked for demanding a bribe.
Meanwhile, learning of the development, Kamalakar removed Mallkiarjun from the post of PA.
