The video footage, taken by a visitor, went viral in which the guard is seen accepting money from at least five persons.
There were several attendants waiting outside the door and the security guard would allowed only those who slipped money into her hands to pass. Many netizens retweeted the video to draw attention of Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K.T. Rama Rao and Parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi towards the hospital authorities turning a blind eye towards the practice.
Many people commented on the post that doctors do not allow visitors to meet patients due to fear of the patients contracting new infections, but here the patients' health is left at the hands of this security guard. The hospital was also in the news after patients alleged that the staff were demanding Rs 100 to Rs 150 for a KCR Maternity Kit. With the hospital handling nearly 35 deliveries a day, the security guards are said to be minting money. When DC contacted for their opinion, the hospital officials refused to comment.
