Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl was raped by a 55-year-old man, who befriended her by offering chocolates and candies on Saturday night at Shahinayathgunj. The girl went missing during the late night power cut and returned home on Sunday morning. She then narrated her horror, following which a complaint was registered and the man was apprehended on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Tulasi Ram Yadav, a watchman, said the police, adding that the parents spent the whole night searching for the girl.
“Since the past few days the girl has been cycling in Goshamahal area as well as Begum Bazaar, where she met Tulasi Ram, who became friends with her by offering chocolates, biscuits and ice creams. On Saturday night, after a power cut in her area, she went to Begum Bazaar Market and met him at his residence. He then forced himself on her and raped her,” said M. Ravindar Reddy, police inspector of Shahinayathgunj.
The girl returned home on Sunday morning around 8.45 am and told her mother about the assault. A complaint was then lodged against the watchman at Shahinayathgunj police station under relevant Sections of IPC and PoCSO Act.
