Gutka factory raided in Mamidipally, 11 held

The arrested men were handed over to Pahadishareef police station where cases under IPC were booked and started an investigation.

Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri raided a gutka manufacturing unit in Mamidipally on Sunday and arrested 11 persons. Police recovered a huge amount of gutka and materials used to make it from them. A case was booked at the Pahadishareef police station. The raids were conducted based on information from reliable sources.

The arrested accused are Syed Rasheed, 40, Rahul Patak, 39, Gowtham Gupta, 31, Anup Kumar Kateria, 19, Pramod Kumar Vishkarma, 32, Nandasool, 22, Ranjith, 25, Kallu Yadav, 23, Arjun Katheria, 19, and Mohd Jaweed, 27 and one Saleem, resident of Kalapathar, is absconding.

Police seized 200 litres of pairabin liquid, about 1,000 kg supari, 200 kg gutka, 500 kg Jardha, 120 kg white powder, around 9 litres of khimam liquid, 15 kg Menthol, 200 kg katha kasi powder, 25 kg cardamom, five machines, 60 kg chalk powder, 60 litres of rose water, one auto, one scooter, a car and nine mobile phones from them.

The arrested men were handed over to Pahadishareef police station where cases under IPC were booked and started an investigation.

In a similar incident, on Saturday evening Adibaela police raided a place near the Bongulur Gate and arrested a BTech mechanical student, one Abhi, from Bidar, for illegally manufacturing gutka and seized Rs 5 lakh worth raw materials and gutka from him. He was booked and remanded by Adibatla police.
