Bengaluru: 84-yr-old looks forward to be ward committee member

Rao has spent over 40 years of life teaching English and Social Science at Jayanagar High School.

Bengaluru: Among various government officials he is known by the moniker ‘by-two kapi’.

He never minds to share half a cup of coffee with a government official, but never greases their palms to get his work done.

Though he is 84 years old, he his energetic enough to serve at old age homes, physically disabled schools and visually challenged organisations.

Now, he has submitted his application to be a part of ward committee. His name is Ramachandra Rao H.S., a retired teacher and a resident of J.P. Nagar.

When we called to seek his opinion on his application to be part of ward member, the very first question Rao put was “Why are you people so much excited over my application? I am 84-years-old. Does that mean that old people shouldn't serve public or what?”

Rao has spent over 40 years of life teaching English and Social Science at Jayanagar High School.

He is known to fire missiles in the form of letters to government offices to get his work done.

When asked what he intends to do as a member of ward committee, he said,

“As a normal citizen I see the same contractor bagging contracts from BBMP and doing it shoddily. At times they also produce fake bills. When I become a member of ward committee I will be empowered to fight all such irregularities.”
