Perumbavur probe lapses to be probed: DGP Lokanath Behera
Kochi: The lapses during the initial stage of probe into the Perumbavur murder case will be investigated at a later stage, but currently the focus is on completing the investigation, director-general of police Loknath Behara said on Saturday. “The probe report is to be submitted within 90 days. However, we hope to complete the investigation before that. The progress is satisfactory,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a traffic seminar organised by the city police here.
However, the official declined to comment on the affidavit filed by the government against the intial probe team before the Central Administrative Tribunal. He also declined to give any further information on the case details. “The information in the FIR is available with the media. Further revelations on the investigation can be made only after the probe is completed and the charge sheet filed,” he said.
Mr Behara also lashed out the media for publication of the picture of the accused saying that the same had adversely affected potential of further identification parade. “Since the accused is an outsider, identification parade is critical, especially to validate the information elicited from him during interrogation. But this has been severely compromised. It will create legal hurdles,” he said.
