Man beats wife to death on road in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 32-year-old woman was beaten to death by her husband with a wooden kitchen equipment at Syed Nagar in Banjara Hills on Saturday.
The killer, Syed Akram, who suspected his wife’s fidelity, attacked his wife with a rolling pin when she was walking to her mother’s home after dropping her children at school. The victim, Shaheen Begum, collapsed on the footpath and died before getting any help. Police found that Akram had been quarrelling with Shaheen after getting drunk.
The incident occurred at Syed Nagar at around 8.30 am. “Shaheen had been living in her mother’s house. On Saturday morning Akram followed her and hit her on the head with a rolling pin till she collapsed. He ran away when people gathered,” said Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas.
The locals called emergency service and alerted the police. However, she had died by the time police and ambulance reached the spot.
Shahin's relatives said she had left her husband's house on June 19 and had gone to her mother's house due to Akram's torture. "Akram used to get drunk and beat her up every night over petty issues. He also questioned her fidelity," said one of her relatives.
Akram, who works in a bakery shop, had married Shaheen Begum 10 years ago.
Police booked a case against Akram for murder. A manhunt is on to arrest him.
