Hyderabad: An autorickshaw driver committed suicide at Uppal alleging police harassment. V. Anjaneyulu, 52, consumed poison and left a note saying that cops had harassed over a marital dispute. However, the police said that he was called only for counselling.
Anjaneyulu said that police had picked him up following a complaint from his wife a day ago and had threatened him. He said that some of his relatives were also conspiring against him.
Medipally police said that they had received a complaint from Anjaneyulu’s wife regarding domestic violence. “We called him for counselling and allowed him to go without any case. The police did not harass him,” inspector B. Naveen Reddy said.
Uppal police booked a case of suspicious death and has started an investigation.
