Garment factory guard attacked by woman employee's kin in Laggere
Bengaluru: An 18-year-old security guard of a garment factory was beaten up by a female employee's brother, relative and his friends for allegedly stalking and making inappropriate advances at her. The incident took place near a garment factory in Kempegowda Layout in Laggere on Friday afternoon. The police said that two accused Udhay and Narendra have been arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim, identified as Darshan.
On Friday, Narendra, brother of the 23-year-old woman employee, and Udhay, a relative, went to the garment factory to meet the employee to discuss an important matter. After talking to Narendra and Udhay for a few minutes, the employee went back to the factory.
Just then Darshan came and enquired her about the men and told her to inform him if she required any help and even said he would thrash them. The woman immediately called up her brother and told him what Darshan told her.
Narendra and Udhay, along with some friends, returned to the factory, dragged Darshan on to the road and assaulted him. The attacked him right on the middle of the road and stopped only after an elderly woman intervened. The attackers then left the spot.
The police said that Udhay was in love with the girl. They also maintained that the security guard was only doing his job by being stern with men who hang around and eve-tease women employees, who form a major chunk of the work force.
Later Darshan approached the Rajagopalanagar police and lodged a complaint, based on which Narendra and Udhay were arrested. The entire act had been recorded in a CCTV installed near the gate of the garment factory. A case of assault has been registered at the Rajagopalanagar police station and further investigations are underway.
