Six fake policemen held for robbing house in Avadi 2 weeks ago

Guru had visited Anandhan's house many times and knew about the properties owned by his family.

Chennai: Two weeks after an eight-member gang claiming to be policemen robbed 30 sovereigns from a house in Avadi, police have arrested six of them including a film assistant director, on Friday.The arrested persons, Guru, Vijayaraghavan, Lakshmanan, Gokul Prasad, Marimuthu and Sellaiyah were remanded in judicial custody and 30 sovereigns of jewels, a car and two-wheeler recovered from them.

According to the police, Guru is a friend of victim's son-in-law Anandhan as both of them working as assistant directors in movies. Guru had visited Anandhan's house many times and knew about the properties owned by his family.

“On May 8, Guru and others with fake Income Tax and police identity cards visited Anandhan's house, when he went outside. Guru waited a few meters away from the house since he is known to the family,” the police said.

They searched the house and looted 30 sovereigns, before fleeing the house after telling them to visit the City Police Commissioner office for further investigation. On suspicion, Anandhan filed a complaint at Avadi police, who registered a case and traced Guru and others.
