Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cyber crime cell arrested a Nigerian national from Bengaluru on Friday for posting fake advertisements about sale of used cars and cheating buyers. His associate Samuel Kidoodo, 33, was arrested in March.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said Oladeji Olayemi, 36, was operating from Bengaluru for six to seven months.

Police made the arrests following a complaint by city residents Ashish Awasare, 26, and Adere Gnaneshwar, 27.

They had been conned by the duo, who lured them to deposit Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.

The accused would post advertisements online about the sale of used cars at low prices.

Samuel posed as William and would claim that he was authorised to sell the cars. Oladeji would act as airport official and ask the victim to transfer money to various bank accounts.

Samuel also paid Harish, another accused for providing and activating SIM cards; Harish is absconding.

Police recovered two laptops, two bank account passbooks and eight debits cards along with cell phones used in the scam. A case has been registered under different sections of IT Act and IPC.
