Hyderabad: A 46-year-old fruit vendor was arrested by Hayathnagar police on Thursday for attempting to murder a pastor. Police said the fruit vendor, B. Venkanna, held a grudge against the pastor, Ramakrishna alias Mark.
He suspected the pastor's character and tried to attack him. Police recovered a knife from him. “Venkanna, a resident of Abdullapurmet, had suspicions about the pastor's conduct towards his family and came to hold a grudge against him,” said Hayathnagar inspector J. Narendra Goud.
“On Wednesday, he tried to kill Ramakrishna with his fruit cutting knife but did not succeed,” the inspector said. Based on a complaint from the pastor, police booked a case against the fruit vendor under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC and took him into custody on Thursday morning. He will be produced in court by the police for hearing.
