Gulbarga man arrested at Dubai airport for carrying banned drug
Hyderabad: A Gulbarga resident was arrested at the Dubai airport for carrying Lyrica 150 mg, a drug banned in Dubai. Md Naqeeb Basha was staying in Dubai since four years and had visited his hometown to attend his brother's marriage. After the marriage he went back to Dubai on May 21 from Hyderabad.
While he was waiting at the Hyderabad airport his friends Imran and Rafiq came to meet him. Later, they gave him a parcel and told him that it would be collected by one Mr Abdullah in Dubai. He trusted them and took the parcel with him. His friends have a medical shop named National Medical and General Stores in Bada Bazaar, Golconda.
As soon as Naqeeb landed in Dubai he was arrested by the police for carrying a banned substance and since four days he is in jail, said Mr Abdul Mujeeb, the brother of Naqeeb.
He added, “My brother is innocent and was working hard for our family. He trusted his friends and carried the parcel with him. We have filed a complaint with the Golconda police. We request the external affairs minister to help us in getting my brother out of Dubai jail.”
When contacted Golconda inspector said they received a complaint from the family and have booked the persons responsible under Section 420 for cheating.
