Hyderabad: A 31 year-old person, who was taken into custody by Tukaramgate police a few days ago in connection with the theft case, died under suspicious circumstances in police custody.
The deceased was identified as Chiranjeevi, a resident of LB Nagar. Tukaramgate police have taken Chiranjeevi from his residence two days ago and shifted to the police station in connection with the theft case investigation. Tuesday night, Chiranjeevi collapsed on the ground inside the police station.
Police said that Chiranjeevi was suffering ill health and suddenly collapsed on the ground. He was shifted to Gandhi General Hospital for proper treatment. While undergoing treatment, he died. However, family members alleged that Chiranjeevi died due to physical harassment by police. Body was shifted to Gandhi mortuary for postmortem.
