Chennai: Man murdered for intervening in brawl
Chennai: In a shocking incident near Chennai, a private company employee died after being attacked for trying to intervene in a brawl on Wednesday. According to the police, the victim, Hariram (26) of Thenkasi was staying with his friends in Nambi Nagar in Poonamalle and was working in a private firm.
On April 18, Hariram was sipping a cold drink in a shop on Trunk Road when V. Perumal (43) of Thirumal Nagar crashed his two-wheeler into another two-wheeler. Perumal and another biker had reportedly started blaming each other and the scene had become nasty.
“Hariram tried to pacify the bikers. But Perumal had allegedly pulled up Hariram and they uttered words at each other,” the police said. Soon, the wordy duel turned into fisticuffs. “Perumal called his son Vinoth on his mobile phone and Vinoth arrived with three friends.
They had allegedly shoved Hariram and he fell,” the police said. Hariram sustained injuries and was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where he succumbed on Wednesday. The Poonamalle police have arrested Perumal and a search is on to nab Vinoth and his friends.
