Two arrested by Cyberabad crime branch for cheating people
Hyderabad: Two persons were arrested by Cyberabad crime branch for cheating people by promising them free goods.
The first accused Ashish Kumar is a resident of Noida and the second one Ashwani Kumar a resident of New Delhi. Both were arrested by Cyberabad crime police after they received a complaint from a resident of Bandlaguda.
The complainant alleged that he got a call from the accused who introduced himself as an employee of 'Today lifestyle' company.
He said the accused told him that if purchased any item worth Rs 4,000 he will get gifts like a laptop, LED TV, gold and jewellery. Hearing this the victim purchased a microwave oven and it was delivered to his address. Later, when the victim asked for the gifts he was told by the accused him that he had to deposit Rs 1,25,000 as insurance and customs charges.
The victim believed the company to be genuine and deposited the money in a bank account provided by the accused. But he didn't get any gifts from them. He said when he tried to reach them on the numbers provided they were not reachable, the police said.
The investigating officer, E. Venkat Reddy said, "After the complainant lodged a complaint with us, we started tracing the culprits using the bank account they had provided. It was found that the account belonged to the accused and the branch was in sector 10, Noida, UP. We, nodal officers and Sector 20 police nabbed the culprits and produced them before the Gouthambuddha Nagar court, filed a transit application and got their custody. Now they will be produced in Kukatpally court."
