Bengaluru: Man pays Rs 32 lakh fake notes for 1 kg gold

Halasoor Gate police have registered a case. However they are clueless about the person who had duped the jeweler.

Bengaluru: In a case of cheating, a man duped a city based jeweller by paying fake currency of Rs 32 lakh to purchase 1 kg gold in Halasoor Gate police station limits on Monday night.

According to police, the victim, Dinesh Kumar, who owns a jewellery shop at SPI Diamond Complex in Nagarathpet said in his complaint that he got a call from a person on Monday night that he wanted to purchase gold ornaments for his daughter’s marriage. Dinesh said the caller claimed he was a friend of his relative and enquired about rates and discounts.

“Dinesh asked the person to come to his shop to get the ornaments. Though the person initially agreed to visit the shop he later called Dinesh and requested him to come near Kaveri Bhavan with gold ornaments and he would hand over the money after taking the ornaments. Around 9.30 pm, Dinesh took the gold ornaments in his car and met the person near mentioned place. The duo exchanged suitcases and left the place. Dinesh who had a glance at the currency notes, realized that they were fake after reaching home,” the police said.

Halasoor Gate police have registered a case. However they are clueless about the person who had duped the jeweler.
