CET to be held under tight security

CET question papers will be transported from the city to all the district headquarters under armed security.

Bengaluru: II PUC students who are appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to various professional courses, including medicine and engineering, need not worry about the safety of the CET examination conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). According to officials, the highest level of security would be provided to guarding the question papers. Speaking to this newspaper, sources at the state higher education informed that the services of DCs and SPs of every district would be taken to ensure that the examination will be conducted in a foolproof way.

Armed police security:

According to officials, CET question papers will be transported from the city to all the district headquarters under armed security to avoid foul play. A dedicated custodian will be appointed to monitor the question papers. Beside the team formed by the district administration which will oversee the CET examination, KEA will depute its own team to ensure that the examination will be conducted in a smooth and transparent way. “In each examination hall only 16 students will be allowed to write the examination. These students will get a different set of question papers to ensure that there’s no malpractice,” explained an officer.

With just one week to go for the CET examination which is scheduled for May 4 and 5, II PUC students are now busy preparing for the examination. “Following the II PUC question paper leak incident, every student is now under tremendous pressure. Media reports that even the CET question papers were leaked last year, has added to the pressure on the students. We wish KEA will act wisely to ensure the probity of the examination,” says Mr. Suhas Rao, a CET candidate.
