Absconding car driver arrested; Rs 7 crore worth diamond and gold jewelry recovered

HYDERABAD: SR Nagar police on Saturday said they had recovered intact all jewellery, worth Rs 7 crores, that car driver Velisetti Srinivas Posi, a West Godavari native, had stolen from Radhika Diamonds, Gachibowli.

Police had formed six teams to track Srinivas who fled with the jewellery on February 17, and analysed footage from 150 CCTV cameras, said Iqbal Siddiqui, additional DCP, west zone.

Srinivas joined the jeweller 45 days ago. Police said that when he couldn’t get a buyer for the loot, Srinivas returned to the city and was trying to dispose of the stolen property when he was arrested.
