Hyderabad: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) set aside the suspension order issued against senior IRS officer Jasti Krishna Kishore by the AP government.
The bench headed by CAT chairman Justice L. Narasimha Reddy also repatriated the IRS officer to his parent department, the Central Board of Direct Taxes. The relief is partial, as he still faces investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Crime Investigation Department.
The bench made it clear that the AP state government was free to pursue the cases against Mr Kishore in line with the law.
Mr Kishore was suspended by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in December 2019 for alleged irregularities in the AP Economic Development Board (APEDB). Cases were filed against him by the ACB and CID. The government also issued notices to him to not leave the capital Amaravati without permission from the investigating authorities.
The IRS officer had been appointed CEO of APEDB during the tenure of then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He was among the team of officials who had investigated the alleged disproportionate assets case against Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in 2010, when he was in the income tax department.
