Hyderabad: A city-based criminal court on Wednesday dismissed the bail petition of Naveen Reddy, prime accused in conspiring the attack and kidnap of medical student Vaishali and sent him back to central prison.
To Naveen Reddy’s counsel’s arguments for bail to his client, the public
prosecutor, representing the investigation officer (IO), filed a counter
stating that the investigation was still in progress and release of the accused
could hamper the investigation process, police sources said.
This is the second time Reddy’s bail has been dismissed by the court since
December 26, the day he was taken into police custody. The officers did not
allow him to meet Vaishali as desired by him because they suspected that
Naveen could harm Vaishali, police sources disclosed.
Adibatla police has Naveen’s confessional statements and substantial
technical evidence that will be added as exhibits in his chargesheet that
will be produced before the court soon, police said.
