Hyderabad: Man kills wife, gets 6 years jail

Hyderabad: The additional district sessions court at Bhongir sentenced a man to undergo six years imprisonment on Monday for domestic violence, and murder of his wife, three years ago.

According to the Rachakonda police, a case was registered at Rajapet police station on December 29, 2015, on the complaint of one Ranga Veera Swamy, a toddy tapper from Pamukunta village alleging the murder of his daughter by his son-in-law.

Swamy got his daughter Rama, married to Bheemgani Veera Swamy, a resident of the same village in 2000.

The couple had a boy and two girls. After the birth of the girl, Veera Swamy started harassing Rama for petty issues and demanded dowry and property from her parents. No change was observed in his behaviour despite local panchayat intervening.

On December 29, 2015, Veera Swamy stabbed Rama with a knife and scissors and stabbed her in the stomach. Rama died on the spot. The accused was booked under Sections 498 A, 302 r/w 109 of IPC and produced before court, the police said.

The additional district sessions judge court which conducted the trial, has convicted Bheemagani Veera Swamy for the offences and imprisoned him for a six years, said Rachakonda police.
