Bengaluru: Amazon files case against 4 cheats from logistics firm
Bengaluru: Authorities from e-commerce giant Amazon on Saturday filed a police complaint against a logistics firm and four of its staff for cheating the company by returning fake products and getting refunds.
According to the FIR, the accused, Ravikumar, Sonu, Mohammed Anwar and Shiv Naik, are all residents of Koramangala. They allegedly conned Amazon of Rs 69. 61 lakh by returning 854 fake products. The accused had created 43 fake Paytm accounts and email IDs, and soon after they got refunds, they deactivated the mails.
Nishad Sharma, an authorised representative of Amazon in Delhi, alleged that Ravikumar and three others working for Dependo Logistics Solutions, created the fake accounts and email IDs to place orders on Amazon. Ravikumar, posing as a customer, linked a PayTM bank account to get refunds after returning fake products. Naik, an assistant manager, had helped him place orders for expensive products, like hard disks and iPhone accessories. After a few days, they would return fake products to Amazon and claim refunds, which amounted to Rs 6 9.61 lakh.
Preliminary investigations revealed that it was a well-organised crime and a special team has been formed to arrest the accused, who are on the run.
