Bengaluru: Man held for police exam paper leak
Bengaluru: The CCB police on Saturday arrested a person from Kodagu for stealing the civil police constable exam question paper and selling them along with answers to job applicants, a day before the exam.
The accused has been identified as Shivakumar and the written exam has now been postponed until further notice. The CCB police received credible information that the exam papers were leaked and being sold in Kodagu.
Special teams were formed and on Saturday and they raided a room in Kalmatta Sri Nanjundeshwara Vidya Mandir in Somwarpet Taluk in Kodagu district, where Shivakumar was caught red-handed while selling the papers, and also rounded up job applicants who had queued up to buy the papers.
The police have also seized four mini buses and a car, along with the question papers.
The police found out that 116 job applicants mostly from North Karnataka were waiting outside to collect the papers.
The police are currently questioning all job applicants along with the seven drivers who had accompanied them to the spot.
The probe revealed that the accused was collecting Rs 6-8 lakh per applicant. During questioning, he confessed to the crime and told the police that he had bought SIM cards by producing false documents, using different names and identities to commit the crime.
The police said that Shivakumar’s accomplice Basavaraju escaped during the raid and they are on lookout for him. Cyber Crime police have registered a case.
