Srirampura police arrests 8 people in connection with Corporator's abduction

Bengaluru: The Srirampura police have arrested eight people who had allegedly kidnapped Okalipuram BBMP ward corporator V. Shivaprakash and had extorted money. The accused have been identified as Naveen, Charan, Shivashankar, Nagaraj, Jayanth, Mani, Suresh and Kumar. Police said the gang had abducted Shivaprakash on September 12, when he had gone for a morning walk. After the kidnapping, the gang had extorted Rs 5 lakh, a gold ring and a chain from him. They released him after a few hours. “Gold worth Rs 1.92 lakh, Rs 50,000 in cash, a car and lethal weapons used to commit the offence have been recovered from the arrested,” the police added.
