Bengaluru: Man held for assaulting 12-year-old girl
Bengaluru: Yelahanka New Town police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a class six student in Anantapur on the city outskirts.
The accused has been identified as Girish (25), who is the uncle of the 12-year-old victim. The police have booked Girish under POCSO Act. They said that he was sexually assaulting the girl whenever she was alone at home.
Girish worked as a driver of a school bus and was residing close to the victim's house. He frequently visited there as he was known to everyone in the house.
Whenever the victim was alone, Girish allegedly used to sexually assaulted her, but the frightened girl never spoke about it to her parents.
On September 19, when the girl was alone at the home, Girish went and allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. The girl's parents later noticed a behavioral change in her. On being repeatedly asked what was bothering her, she narrated the ordeal and named Girish.
Taken aback by the incident, the girl's parents approached the Yelahanka New Town Police and lodged a complaint against Girish. Upon learning that a complaint has been lodged against him, Girish went absconding. But on Saturday evening, the police arrested and produced him before court.
Girish was engaged and was supposed to get married soon, the police said.
