Bengaluru: Businessman receives threat call

According to the police, the accused made the call through internet and the police are trying to trace its IP address.

Bengaluru: A businessman has approached the Sadashivanagar police after he got a threat call from an unknown person, who allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore and threatened to kill him if the demand was not met.

The complainant has been identified as Sathyaprakash R., a resident of Saraswathipuram in Nandini Layout. He runs a flower decoration business.

According to the police, the accused made the call through internet and the police are trying to trace its IP address.

In his complaint, Sathyaprakash alleged that he got a call from an unknown person for the first time on September 19 evening, when he was reportedly in a temple at Amruthahalli.

The caller, who spoke in Hindi, told him that he knew the complainant was running two wedding halls and arrange Rs 2 crore for his 'bhai' and give it the next day. He also threatened that his men were behind the complainant and he will be killed if he approaches police.

"As he started abusing, the complainant told him that he was in the temple and disconnected the call. The accused has called the complainant several times again in the night but he did not respond. The next day, when the complainant was in a meeting at a spiritual TV channel office on New BEL Road, he got a call again and he asked his friend to attend to the call. The caller started hurling filthy abuses and asked the friend to give the phone to Sathyaprakash, but the friend cut the call," the police said.

"The complainant is not running any convention centres and we are trying to track the caller. The complainant told us that he had got a call from an unknown number several days ago and the caller had offered that he had gold and asked the complainant to buy it at cheaper price. We are suspecting that the same person could be behind the threat call," the Sadashivanagar police added.
